Electrical for renovations and new builds in the Perth Hills

Good electrical work in a renovation or new build starts before the walls are closed in. Kivalo Electrical does full electrical fit-outs, from rough-in wiring through to final fit-off, for homeowners, builders and property professionals across the Perth Hills and greater Perth.

The stages of the electrical work

  • Rough-in: cabling run through the frames and ceilings before the linings go on.
  • Fit-off: switches, power points, lights, appliance connections and the switchboard are installed and connected.
  • Testing and paperwork: the work is tested, and the required compliance paperwork is provided for applicable work.

Plan before the walls close

Changing your mind is cheap before the linings go on and expensive afterwards. It's worth deciding these early:

  • Where power points and switches go, including the kitchen, laundry and any outdoor areas.
  • The lighting layout, inside and out.
  • Data and communications cabling.
  • Power for air conditioning.
  • A switchboard with room for what you might add next.

Working with your builder and other trades

A larger project needs careful planning and coordination so the electrical work fits the program. We keep communication clear from quote to completion, and we're happy to work with your builder or project manager.

What affects the cost

The price of electrical work for a renovation or new build depends on the size of the job and the stage it's at. What affects the cost:

  • The size of the home and the number of power points, switches and lights.
  • Whether it's a rough-in and fit-off, or only one stage.
  • The switchboard, and extra circuits for appliances or air conditioning.
  • Data cabling, smoke alarms and other extras.
  • Access, the building program and how many visits the job needs.

FAQ

Renovations & new builds: your questions answered.

When should an electrician get involved?

As early as you can, ideally at the plan stage and always before the walls are lined. That's when changes are easiest.

Can you work with my builder?

Yes. We work with builders and other trades, and keep communication clear so the electrical work fits the program.

Do you also do lighting and data cabling as part of a fit-out?

Yes. We install lighting, power points, data and communications cabling, and switchboards, so one electrician can handle the whole job.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Yes. All workmanship is backed by a 90 day warranty. Ask us if you'd like the details.
