Data and network cabling in the Perth Hills & Perth metro

Kivalo Electrical is an ACMA registered cabler, so we can run your data and communications cabling as well as the electrical work. We install Cat6 data points, cabling for Wi-Fi access points, TV points and home office wiring for homes and small businesses across the Perth Hills and greater Perth.

ACMA registered cabler (registration A058157). We carry out data and communications cabling as a registered cabler, alongside our electrical contractor licence.

Why wired data points still matter

Wi-Fi is convenient, but a cable is faster, steadier and not affected by thick walls or neighbours' networks. A wired connection makes the most difference for work-from-home setups, smart TVs and streaming boxes, gaming, security cameras and anything else that needs a reliable link.

  • Home offices that need a stable connection for video calls and large files.
  • Wi-Fi that drops out in the back bedroom, the shed or the granny flat.
  • A TV or media area that needs a wired connection instead of relying on Wi-Fi.
  • Cameras, access points and other devices that are powered and connected over a single cable.

What we install

Moving the NBN connection box itself is handled by your provider or NBN Co, and we can tell you what applies to your setup when we visit.

  • Cat6 data points in walls and ceilings, tested after installation.
  • Cabling to ceiling-mounted Wi-Fi access points, so coverage reaches the whole property.
  • Extra data points run from your NBN connection box to the rooms where you need them.
  • TV and antenna points.
  • Data cabling for small commercial fit-outs, including offices and shopfronts.
  • Tidy termination at a patch panel or a neat wall plate, clearly labelled so you know which cable goes where.

Planning the job

The best time to add data cabling is before walls are lined, such as during a renovation or new build. In a finished home we can usually run cable through the roof space or under the floor to keep patching to a minimum, and we'll explain our plan before we start. Tell us where your internet comes in, which rooms need a connection and what you'll plug into each one, and we'll suggest where the points should go.

What affects the cost

The price depends on how many data points you need and how hard it is to get cable to each one. The main things that change the cost are:

  • The number of data points and access points.
  • Whether we can reach the roof space and the wall cavities, or the home is double storey.
  • The type of walls and how much patching and making good is needed.
  • Whether you want a patch panel, a small rack or a simple wall plate.
  • Testing and labelling, and the size of the property for commercial work.

FAQ

Data cabling: your questions answered.

What does ACMA registered cabler mean?

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) requires people who install certain telecommunications cabling to be registered. We're an ACMA registered cabler, so we can do your data and communications cabling as well as the electrical work.

Can you add data points to a finished home?

Usually yes. We can often run cable through the roof space or under the floor so there's little patching. Photos and a quick description of the rooms help us quote accurately.

Can you set up my Wi-Fi or modem?

We install the cabling and the wall points or access point mounting locations. If you'd like help with your router or Wi-Fi settings, ask us when you request a quote and we'll tell you what we can do.

Do you do commercial data cabling?

Yes, for small commercial fit-outs such as offices and shopfronts. Tell us what you need and we'll talk it through.
