Power point installation in the Perth Hills & Perth metro
Not enough power points, or none where you need them? Kivalo Electrical installs additional power points, USB outlets and dedicated circuits for homes and businesses across the Perth Hills and greater Perth, safely and to code.
Common power point jobs
- Extra double power points in a bedroom, living area, home office or workshop.
- USB outlets where you charge phones and devices.
- A dedicated circuit for a larger appliance.
- Outdoor power points for an alfresco area, garden or work area.
- Moving or replacing power points that are damaged, loose or in the wrong place.
Plan where they go
- Think about furniture, benches and appliances before you decide, so cords aren't stretched across the room.
- In kitchens and work areas, count the appliances that run at the same time.
- Outdoors, power points need to suit the weather exposure of the spot.
- Adding a few more now is usually easier than coming back for them later.
What the job involves
How the cable gets to the new power point depends on the wall type and what's behind it. Sometimes it can be run through the roof space or under the floor. Sometimes a section of wall needs to be opened and patched. We'll explain how we'd do it before we start.
Switchboard capacity and safety
Every circuit is protected at the switchboard. Adding lots of power points or a large appliance to a circuit that's already busy can overload it, and an old or full switchboard may not have room for another circuit. If that's the case we'll tell you, and a switchboard upgrade may be the right first step.
What affects the cost
A single extra power point on an easy wall is a quick job, while one that needs a new circuit or a long cable run takes longer. What affects the cost:
- The number of power points and whether they need a new circuit.
- How we can get the cable there: roof space, underfloor, or through the wall.
- The wall type and the patching needed afterwards.
- Whether your switchboard has room, or needs upgrading first.
- Whether the power points are indoors or outdoors.

FAQ
Power points: your questions answered.
Can you add a power point where there isn't one?
In most cases yes. How easy it is depends on the wall type and how we can get a cable there, so photos of the spot help us quote accurately.
Will I need a new circuit?
It depends on what you'll plug in and how busy the existing circuit already is. Larger appliances usually need their own circuit. We'll check before we quote.
Can you install outdoor power points?
Yes. Outdoor power points need to suit the weather exposure of the location, and we'll advise on the right type for the spot.
