Ceiling fan installation in the Perth Hills & Perth metro

A good ceiling fan keeps a room comfortable through a Perth summer for a fraction of the running cost of air conditioning. Kivalo Electrical installs and replaces ceiling fans across the Perth Hills and greater Perth, with safe wiring, secure mounting and tidy finishing.

Signs you'd benefit from a ceiling fan

  • Bedrooms and living areas that stay stuffy on warm nights.
  • Alfresco areas that need airflow without the cost of cooling.
  • A room with a light point where you'd like to add or swap in a fan.
  • An old fan that wobbles, hums or has a faulty switch or capacitor.

What a safe fan installation involves

A fan is heavier than a light and it moves, so it needs a proper mounting point that can hold the weight and the vibration. A standard light fitting isn't designed for that. We check what's above the ceiling and fit a fan-rated bracket where needed.

  • Securely mounting the fan to a suitable structure in the roof space.
  • Wiring the fan and any light kit to the correct circuits.
  • Fitting a wall control or remote receiver, if you want one.
  • Balancing and testing the fan so it runs quietly and without wobble.
  • Leaving the work tidy, and explaining how the controls work.

Choosing the right fan

You're welcome to supply your own fan, or ask us for advice before you buy.

  • Size: larger rooms need larger blades or more than one fan.
  • Ceiling height: low ceilings may need a fan that sits close to the ceiling, and high ceilings may need a longer rod.
  • Controls: wall dial, remote or smart control.
  • Light: whether you want a light kit built in.
  • Indoor or outdoor rating, for alfresco areas.

What affects the cost

A fan swapped into an existing, suitable ceiling point is a quicker job than adding a new fan where there's no wiring. What affects the cost:

  • Whether there's already a suitable wiring point and mounting structure.
  • Roof-space access, and whether the ceiling is high or sloped.
  • The number of fans, and the type of controls.
  • Whether new wiring or a new circuit is needed.
  • Whether you're supplying the fan or we are.

FAQ

Ceiling fans: your questions answered.

Can you replace a light with a ceiling fan?

Often yes, but the fitting has to be able to hold the weight of a fan. We'll check what's above the ceiling before we quote.

Do I need to buy the fan myself?

You can supply your own or ask us for advice on what suits your room before you buy.

Can I control the fan and light separately?

Yes. Most fans with a light kit can be controlled separately with a remote or a wall control. We'll make sure the wiring suits the controls you choose.

Can you install a fan outdoors?

Yes, using an outdoor-rated fan suited to the weather exposure of the area.
